Dear Foundation Members:
As a senior at Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Illinois, I was required to complete a senior
project. The project was meant to explore an area of importance to me and also make a positive contribution in relation to that area of importance.
My grandfather, Gil Solow, has macular degeneration.
I decided to learn as much as I could about this disease and now understand what my grandfather has gone through in losing the sight in one eye. He also continues to worry about his sight in his good eye.
One of my other passions in life has been golf, a game I have had some success with because, in part, of my grandfather's advice. I decided to combine my desire to help my grandfather with my passion for golf and
gave golf lessons for charity. Therefore, please accept $860 as a contribution in honor of my grandfather. I hope this can help find ways to eliminate this terrible disease if not in time for my grandfather
at least for his children and grandchildren.
Very truly yours, Andrew W. Solow |
