Special Recognition

Sam Snead - Golfing legend Sam Snead, a victim of macular degeneration, was a friend of this Foundation and a supporter of new technologies being tested for the treatment of the disease.  Sam won three Masters and 81 PGA Tour Tournaments.  His golf swing was described as the sweetest ever.  We will miss this wonderful man who always had a humorous story to tell about himself.

Lt. Colonel Joseph S. Field - Palm Beach, FL
This modest, gentle and wonderful man and I first met in 1947. When he learned of my blindness, he joined me in creating the Macular Degeneration Foundation.

Colonel Frank Thompson - Paso Robles, CA
I often visited Frank in California. Both of us had lost most of our central vision. We would sit out on his front lawn discussing ideas about how we could help others in our situation. He wanted to be involved with this Foundation.

Steve Allen Memorial

Steve Allen was a good friend to the MD Foundation and many others who were touched by his generous acts of kindness.
