1.  NEW BOOK DETAILS LATEST DISCOVERIES AND TREATMENTS

Dr. Robert D'Amato MD, PhD of Harvard Medical School and Joan Snyder, a victim of ARMD, have teamed up to produce a concise and readable book titled: "Macular Degeneration: The Latest Scientific Discoveries and Treatments for Preserving Your Sight.  It clearly details the diagnosis of Macular Degeneration, the latest treatment options and practical ways of coping with ARMD.  See reviews and purchase on-line at:

2.  IRIDEX ISSUES POSITIVE STUDY RESULTS REGARDING TTT

IRIDEX announced on September 18th, 2000 the results of an expanded clinical study that evaluates a treatment for patients with wet Age-related Macular Degeneration.  The study used Transpupillary Thermotherapy (TTT) photocoagulation to treat patients with subfoveal occult wet AMD.  The TTT treatment was effective in improving or stabilizing vision in 81% of eyes and in decreasing subretinal fluid in 83% of eyes.  See details at:
